I am so honored to have been included in the Inspirations Section of the December "Digital Strategies Edition" of Shutter Magazine. (FB: Behind The Shutter).

The amount of talent in this magazine is jaw-dropping and I couldn't be more humbled and thankful to have been included.

A few months ago, I picked up an issue of this magazine at Barnes and Noble. As I held it and flipped through it, I felt incredibly inspired and motivated. My mentor Sue Bryce always says to state your dreams and goals out loud. So, I did. I stated out loud, "I want to be in this magazine." The fact that I woke up to this announcement simply reinforced my beliefs in her words and my abilities.

What makes this even sweeter is I get to share this with two of the most incredible people on the planet. My husband Leif, and the incredibly talented and sweet Leah Haines. (Model Leah Haines)

I cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store. I look forward to pushing past my current limitations and becoming the photographer and artist that I strive to be.

Behind The Image:

My favorite moments are often found while out in nature. Something about the smell of dew-covered moss and pine warms my soul. When we created this piece, traveling long distances wasn't possible for us so we decided to bring the forest to our studio.

The feather moss, mushrooms, and other earth elements were all sourced and gathered specifically for this series.

There are no limits to what you can do if you believe in yourself.

This piece was created for the 2016 "Through the Looking Glass" Exhibition hosted by The Springfield Regional Arts Council (SRAC). The exhibition was held at The Creamery Arts Center in Springfield, Mo.

This INSANE collaboration was a fun last minute piece that was put together just days before the deadline. The hair styles, makeup, and double-sided outfit were applied and worn at once to create this single epic shot.

PRESS RELEASE

Tora Anne Thompson of Tora Anne Imagery is honored by peers and jurors for high-quality photography.

Fair Grove, MO. August 8, 2016 - A photograph created by Tora Anne of Tora Anne Imagery in Fair Grove has recently been accepted into the Loan Collection of Professional Photographers of America's 2016 International Photographic Competition. Thompson’s work will be on display at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX, Jan. 8-10, 2017. This International Photographic Exhibition is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.

A panel of 46 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,700 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 2,428 images were selected for the General Collection and 1,007 were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated "Loan Collection" book and over 200 selected General Collection images will be published in the "Showcase" book by Marathon Press.

Titled "Beauty," Thompson’s photograph will be in the International Photographic Exhibition alongside other top photographic works from the competition and traveling and special invitational displays. These images constitute one of the world's largest annual exhibits of professional photography gathered simultaneously under one roof.
